YMCA completes $50 million capital campaign

The YMCA of Greater New York has successfully completed a $50 million capital campaign led by Stephen B. Siegel, chairperson of Global Brokerage for CB Richard Ellis. The campaign has allowed the YMCA to move forward on a $150 million effort that will result in the construction of three new YMCAs and expansion or substantial renovation of 16 other YMCA branches throughout the five boroughs.

The Chinatown YMCA, located at 273 Bowery, is constructing a new main facility occupying a portion of the new residential and commercial building now underway on E. Houston St. at Bowery. In addition to serving Chinatown, the new facility will be able to serve a broad area of Manhattan’s Lower East Side and the neighborhoods to the west of Bowery. The new facility will include a swimming pool, gymnasium, health and wellness center, community computer center, classrooms and multipurpose rooms among amenities. When the new facility is fully operational, the Chinatown YMCA expects to serve 6,000 children and teens annually.
