Hot doggin’ it

Weiner dogs by the dozens descended on Washington Sq. Park last Saturday for the biannual Dashshund Festival. Above, Bosco with owner Risa, was among the many dachs decked out in colorful costume. Perhaps Bosco’s military fatigue look was intended as social commentary on the Iraq war. The event, as usual, ended with the singing of the traditional “Dachs Song.”

Going to the dogs
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, seems to be the new philosophy of The Ear Inn bar, at 326 Spring St., in Hudson Sq. The former Lower West Side Printing District has seen a flurry of new high-end, residential construction. An upscale 11-story tower, designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson, is planned next door to “the Ear.”
