Fernando Suarez del Solar, 48, is part of nationwide group called Military Families Speak Out that is opposed to the Iraq war. His son, Jesus Alberto, 20, was one of the first Marines to die in the invasion, after stepping on an unexploded U.S. cluster bomb on March 27. Originally from Mexico, Suarez, shown above at Union Sq. at the end of the Aug. 29 United for Peace and Justice march, lives in Escondido, Cal. “President Bush killed my son,” he said. The number of U.S. dead in the war as of Tuesday was more than 1,060.
