Come to the Casbah on Bond St.

The Algerian American Cultural Center and the Network of Arab-American Professionals of New York will conduct their sixth annual cultural street fair on Sat. July 10 on Bond St. between Broadway and Lafayette St. In previous years, the event was held on July 5, Algerian Independence Day, according to Kamel Merarda, a spokesperson for the Algerian American center. Algerian and Arab products, artwork, readings and regional music will be offered from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. “We hope it will be an opportunity for cultural celebration and sharing at a time when the American people misunderstand so much about Arab culture and identity,” Merarda said.
