Rev. Laarman leaves Judson

A farewell celebration was held last week for the Reverend Peter Laarman, senior minister at Judson Memorial Church for the last 10 years. Laarman, above left, shown with Bill Granfield, president of Local 100, the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union — holding a sign supporting the Oyster Bar workers’ labor protest — left the famously progressive Washington Sq. S. church on Monday to head an organization called the Accountability Campaign, a coalition of many different progressive organizations readying to “welcome” the Republican Convention when it comes to New York Aug. 30-Sept. 2. In April, Laarman is moving to Los Angeles to be executive director of an organization called Progressive Christians Uniting.
