An annual month of fasting and faith during Ramadan
During Ramadan, male worshipers at the Madina Masjid mosque, on First Ave. at 11th St., prayed in the street, while an auxiliary police officer stood watch and a Muslim mother and her daughter passed nearby, above. After praying, worshipers broke their fast and enjoyed supper inside the mosque, below. A monthlong observance with daily fasting, Ramadan concludes Sept. 9.
