Technology grows in Chinatown

Asian Americans for Equality held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday for its newly expanded Community Technology Center at 111 Norfolk St., between Delancey and Rivington Sts. In photo at left, Chris Kui, executive director of Asian Americans for Equality, left, and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver held up a bow after a successful ribbon cutting. At right, a group of budding techno whizzes posed with City Councilmember Alan Gerson. Established in 1999, the Community Technology Center offers diverse computer literacy programs for children and adults in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Spanish. It is free for youth and low cost for adults.
