Busted! ‘Brainwash’ at work
Last month, at W. 13th St. and Ninth Ave., Thierry Guetta, a.k.a. “Mr. Brainwash,” a videographer and street artist, was caught painting happy faces on stencils he had done that had been vandalized by another street artist. Guetta is best known for his work with Shepard Fairey and British street artist Banksy, with whom he created the film “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” But there’s been controversy whether Guetta is really a street artist, given the lack of photographs of him at work on the street. This photo apparently settles the debate.
