A shot from one of the “Dangerous Docs” — screening June 4.

When the folks at Rooftop Films begin showing films on a well, rooftop, it’s a pretty good sign that summer’s here. Rooftop’s 14th Annual Summer Series of “Underground Movies Outdoors” will screen more than 23 feature films and 21 programs of short films — including festival hits and world premieres. June 4th, the “Dangerous Docs” series features short documentary films (on the roof of Open Road at New Design High School, 350 Grand St.). Unless otherwise noted, all shows have these details: doors open at 8pm; live music at 8:30pm; film at 9pm; filmmaker Q&A at 11pm; after party at 11:30pm. Tickets are $10. For a full schedule of events, visit www.rooftopfilms.com.

The impending August closing of The Ohio Theatre makes the 15th edition of Clubbed Thumb’s Summerworks Festival a somewhat bittersweet event — but its promising content gives you all the motivation you need to sit in the Ohio’s seats before the space becomes yet another arts victim of the old landlord/rent drama. The Festival features three pieces. Kate E. Ryan’s “Dot” concerns an old gal and a weird kid who become friends (June 6th-12th). In Samuel D. Hunter’s “Five Genocides,” Katie’s quest to finish writing a book gets a lift from a new co-worker at the Fashion Bug (June 13th-19th). In Anne Washburn’s “The Small,” a man struggles to assemble a reality from his dreams (June 20th-26th). For tickets ($18 for adults, $15 for students), visit www.TheaterMania.com or call 212-352-3101. At The Ohio Theatre (66 Wooster St., btw. Spring & Broome). Visit www.ClubbedThumb.org.
