High turnout for High Line
The wait to get onto the High Line was about 15 to 20 minutes on Sunday. People stood in a double line coiled down Gansevoort St., above, then got a white bracelet, and were allowed into the new park. The Friends of the High Line say that for a while they will be gauging the flow and numbers of parkgoers, and Sunday with its sunny weather drew a big crowd. Below, Hidemi Takagi, right, William Bastien and their daughter, Luné Takagi-Bastien, enjoyed one of the parks new benches. I cant wait till it goes to 34th St., Bastien said of the park, which is now only built up to 20th St. Asked about the slanting bench, he said, It works it works for backache. Its working right now.
