Fire, air, water (well, beer) are brought back to earth

On Sat., May 9, inside the Pussycat Lounge, at 96 Greenwich Street, Brooklyn performers The Danger and Lady Circus brought their brand of bawdy revelry to Lower Manhattan. They put on a party in a Financial District strip club that drew more than 1,000 people, before the Fire Department ordered the premises vacated around 2 a.m. “You try to do something cool,” said one partygoer, Patrick, 23, “bring some real life back to Manhattan, and they shut you down. It ain’t right.” Above, a fire breather unleashed a blast of flames. Below, the crowd enjoyed a band’s rendition of Nirvana favorite “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on horns. Also featured were performances by daring aerialists dangling from hoops above the crowd.
