Memorial for preservationist Small
A memorial service for Verna Small, the important Greenwich Village preservationist who died last month at age 92, has been scheduled for Sun., Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. in the Greenberg Room at New York University Law School’s Vanderbilt Hall, at MacDougal and W. Fourth Sts. A speakers list, still in formation, includes former Parks Commissioner Henry Stern; former City Councilmember Carol Greitzer; Rita Lee, the first district manager at Community Board 2; Brad Hoylman, C.B. 2 chairperson; Andrew Berman, executive director of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation; Stuart Waldman, an activist in the Federation to Preserve the Greenwich Village Waterfront and Great Port; Jonathan Geballe, who succeeded Small as C.B. 2 Waterfront Committee chairperson; Simon Small, Small’s grandson; and Anne Berg, her grandniece. All are welcome.
