The Subway Service Girls gave out snacks and beverages from their rolling cart and even applied hand lotion for straphangers on the L, R and No. 6 trains on Saturday. Based in Queens, the women made their own blue-and-yellow stewardess-style uniforms, complete with MetroCard patches. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority promised that better service would accompany the recent fair hike. But the women said they’ve seen no improvements, and so decided to take matters into their own hands.
