Fountain feud goes on, but fountain’s going, gone

As the debate recently raged over the condition of the Washington Square Park fountain’s foundation, much of the rest of the fountain, including its aboveground rim, as well as the surrounding sunken plaza were removed, as shown by the photo above taken last week. The fountain is being restored and then will be moved about 20 feet east to align precisely with Fifth Ave. and the Washington Square arch.
