Stoli and blvd party for recovery on Bowery
On Wed., Dec. 12, Stolichnaya Russian Vodka held its holiday party at blvd at 199 Bowery. The vodka company, in conjunction with Giant Step, a New York marketing and entertainment company, decided to give something back to the neighborhood.
Rather than an admission charge, they asked partygoers for a voluntary contribution that would go to the work of the nearby Bowery Mission, a faith-based organization where homeless men recover from alcohol and substance abuse. Over the course of the six-hour party that night, $5,000 was collected.
On Dec. 14, representatives from Stolichnaya and Giant Step were joined by the owner of blvd as they presented a check for $5,000 to James Macklin, the director of outreach for the Bowery Mission.
