An outdoor Diabetes Village will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tues., Nov. 13, in Union Square Park’s north plaza, sponsored by Novo Nordisk, inaugurating the New York leg of the diabetes healthcare company’s Changing Diabetes World Bus Tour. The free event will include snacks, confidential health screenings, children’s activities and former New York City Ballet soloist Zippora Karz sharing her experience living with diabetes and offering fitness advice. An estimated 800,000 adult New Yorkers live with diabetes and are at risk for developing the condition. The United Nations has designated Wed., Nov. 14, as World Diabetes Day.
