Chamber champs shine at dinner dance

The Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce raised the penthouse roof at New York University’s Kimmel Center on LaGuardia Pl. Monday night at its annual gala dinner dance. This year’s Member of the Year Award went to Maria Passannante Derr, chairperson of Community Board 2 and an attorney in the Village. Derr is pictured at left, with from left, Jim Hart, chamber chairperson; Bob Zuckerman, the chamber’s executive director; and Peter DeLuca, owner of Greenwich Village Funeral Home. The chamber’s Humanitarian of the Year Award went to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center on W. 13th St. At right, Richard Burns, the center’s executive director, holds the award, with Christian Miller, executive director of the 14th St. McBurney YMCA.
