Equal funding for public housing

On Tuesday morning Jacob Riis Houses tenants filled the Avenue D project’s Community Center to hear Senator Charles Schumer and Congressmember Nydia Velazquez announce the introduction of the Public Housing Equal Treatment Act of 2007. Currently, 343 public housing developments operated by the New York City Housing Authority are forced to share funds and resources that were originally intended for 322 developments.
