Villager photo by Milo Hess
Sidewalk artist Julian Beever chalked this three-dimensional painting for Aveeno at Union Square Park last month. Known throughout Europe as the Pavement Picasso, this is Beevers first pavement painting in New York. Mediapost.com reported that as part of the publicity stunt, passersby were encouraged to throw pennies into the faux fountain, with a donation going to Aveenos partner on the effort, the nonprofit group Keep America Beautiful. Looks like onlookers saved their pennies.
