Mutual Housing wins award The Lower East Side People’s Mutual Housing Association on Nov. 6 received the James Heiskell Community Renaissance Award, an innovative venture award, which comes with $50,000. The group was recognized for energy sustainability, including constructing five new energy-efficient buildings and gut-rehabbing three buildings, making them energy efficient. Mary Spink, the group’s director, accepted the award at the ceremony at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center.
