The great Kan

On Dec. 1, the National Arts Club awarded Diana Kan its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Medal of Honor. More than 150 members and guests assembled in the members-only dining room to hear distinguished speakers hold forth on Kan’s achievements. Above, from left: Adam Barsky, deputy secretary for Governor George Pataki, who brought a formal citation; Robert Y. Lee, New York City Deputy Commissioner of Finance; honoree Diana Kan; John Whitney Payson, the noted gallery owner and art patron; and Aldon James, president of the National Arts Club. The family of Diana Kan presented the club with one of the artist’s large lotus watercolor paintings for its permanent collection.
