Changing face of Canal St.
Demolition work recently began at the triangular lot at the intersection of Greenwich and Canal Sts. The site is expected to be cleared of its small building within the week, opening the way for construction to begin in January, said Michael Braunstein, assistant project manager with Douglaston Development, which is doing the project with Fabian Friedland. The seven-story building of 21 condominium lofts will take an estimated 18 months for completion.
