The Guild kicks off capital campaign

Hudson Guild last week opened its Chelsea Campaign, a fundraising initiative focusing on donations from Chelsea residents and businesses that will be dedicated to supporting local residents and families.

“Every dollar raised in the Chelsea Campaign will go for services to residents here, including early childcare, after-school programs, youth services, mental health services, community building and the arts,” said Janice McGuire, Hudson Guild executive director, at the Sept. 30 campaign opening..

Independence Community Foundation has made a $100,000 grant, conditioned on the Chelsea Campaign’s raising $150,000, McGuire announced.

Volunteers leading the campaign include Alan Fishman, president and chief executive officer of Independence Community Bank; Jeffrey R. Gural, C.E.O. of Newmark & CO. Real Estate; David Barton, owner of David Barton Gyms; Louise Bourgeois, the prominent sculptor; Mario Cantone, actor and comedian, star of “Laugh Whore;” Donny Deutsch, C.E.O. of Deutsch Inc.; Amy Sacco, owner of the clubs Bungalow 8, Lot 61 and Bette; and William Wegman, the photographer.
