Marie Moradei, 87, a travel enthusiast

Marie C. Moradei, a resident of Bank St. in the West Village for more than 50 years, died Sept. 3 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx after a short illness at the age of 87.

She moved to her Bank St. home between Bleecker and W. Fourth Sts. in the early 1950s after the death of her husband, Louis Moradei, a jeweler, according to her niece, Marie Burkhart, of Worthington, Mass.

Born in Swartswood, N.J., on Jan. 18, 1918, the daughter of John and Mari Negro Clara, she graduated from Newton High School in Newton, N.J. In Manhattan, she worked for Dr. Marshall Hoag, an osteopath, as secretary and office manager until her retirement in the early 1950s.

She was a travel enthusiast, visiting Italy several times and making trips to Brazil where she visited Rio Di Janeiro and made trips down the Amazon, her niece said. A sister, Helen Losey, of Goshen, N.Y., and eight nieces and nephews survive.

Greenwich Village Funeral Home, 199 Bleecker St., was in charge of arrangements.
