Latkes and knishes are the main attractions at the historic Yonah Schimmel’s on East Houston St. The delicious potato concoctions rise from the basement in a dumb waiter, silverware sits on the table in cans and a sign advises customers, “Make your knish a platter. Add a pickle or cole slaw. Only 50 cents each.”
