Gur Tsabar with Gloria Acevedo, director of the Jacob Riis Senior Center, at Raga on E. Sixth St.

How many (Tsa)bars do you have?

Gur Tsabar, a City Council candidate in District 2, recently collected 20 cell phones to donate to senior citizens at the Jacob Riis Senior Center. Even without a service plan, the phones will enable seniors to access the city’s 911 system in case of emergency.
“I am committed to improving the lives of people in New York, and my campaign is one tool to help me bring needed resources to the citizens of our neighborhood,” said Tsabar. “I am committed to running a campaign not just of ideas but of action — I see no reason to wait for an election to help the residents of our community.”

Tsabar gave away the phones at an event at Raga, a French-Indian restaurant at 433 E. Sixth St. Admission required one used cell phone.
