Inclusionary-zoning forum

A community forum titled “The Past, Present, and Future of Zoning in the Lower East Side, Gramercy Park and Murray Hill” on April 13 will discuss what organizers are calling the housing crisis facing New York City. The forum will address “the fact that the city is planning to rezone and redevelop dozens of neighborhoods, though, evidence suggests that without a zoning mandate, nearly all housing will be market rate, beyond the reach of most New Yorkers.” Inclusionary zoning — a requirement to build affordable units — will be discussed. The two-hour forum will be held at Comprehensive Night & Day High School, 240 Second Ave. at 15th St. Sponsors of the meeting include Councilmember Margarita Lopez and Community Boards 3 and 6.
