Gates mania

Although Downtowners are famous for rarely venturing Uptown, a rare event — Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s “The Gates” in Central Park — compelled them to do so last weekend. The Soho artist couple’s project has blanketed the park’s pathways with saffron-colored swaths of cloth. “The Gates” will remain up through Feb. 27.
