Updated Thurs., July 14, 11 p.m.: Thursday evening, police announced that they had arrested two young people from Chicago in a violent attack on 75-year-old man on W. 14th St. the day before.

Police collared Deangelo Coleman, 20, and Brianna Crusade, 19, on Thursday around 8 p.m. for shoplifting in the K-Mart on W. 34th St. near Penn Station.

A police spokesperson said the Windy City pair are homeless and have been in New York City for a few months.

According to police, around 2:12 p.m. on July 13, in front of 120 W. 14th St., Coleman — sporting a distinctive red streak in his hair — punched the senior man in the back of the head and knocked him to the ground. He then kicked the victim in the face, knocking him out.

Before the attack, police said, Crusade approached the senior and grabbed his cell phone from out of his pants pocket. During the beatdown, Crusade — who was wearing a green dress with a hood over her head — then stood by as a lookout.

Coleman was charged with two counts of assault and Crusade with one count of grand larceny for stealing the man’s cell phone.
