On Thurs., Nov. 5, around 1 p.m., a tree ripped out of its tree pit on Charles St., just west of Greenwich Ave., and fell across the width of the street. There reportedly were no injuries. Local resident Tom Bernardin said a woman had told him the tree had been slated for removal. At left, firefighters standing next to the stump after the fallen tree had been cut up into pieces for removal.
