A worker at 16 Morton St., told a Villager photographer to back off after she arrived at the scene of a partial collapse. The building has been gut-rehabbed and the interior is being completely rebuilt. Apparently, a 12-inch-thick beam that was supporting three workers on the third floor failed. According to a parking attendant at the next-door garage, the three workers were taken away by ambulance around 9 a.m. that morning. A Sixth Precinct police officer confirmed that the workers were taken to Bellevue Hospital, which “has the best trauma unit.” More information about the injured workers wasn’t immediately available.
