Kurland vs. Johnson: Showdown in Chelsea


Yetta Kurland, left, and Corey Johnson are vying in the Sept. 10 Democratic primary election to succeed Christine Quinn in the West Side District 3 City Council seat, which includes Greenwich Village, Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen.


The two candidates in the race for the City Council’s Third District, Yetta Kurland and Corey Johnson, will face off in a debate at Bow Tie Cinemas (formerly Chelsea Cinemas), at 260 W. 23rd St., between Seventh and Eighth Aves., on Mon., Aug. 26.

The debate will be co-moderated by Paul Schindler, editor of Gay City News, and Lincoln Anderson, editor of The Villager.

The theater has a seating capacity of 275.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the debate is scheduled to end at 7:45 p.m.
