Students’ watercolor art is Starbucks’ cup of tea

PS-3-kids

Kindergarteners from P.S. 3 enjoyed well-earned cups of hot chocolate last Thursday after displaying their watercolor artwork inside the Starbucks at W. 10th and Hudson Sts. Teacher Susan Soler (back right) said that she’d gotten the inspiration for the project after taking a watercolor class herself. After she’d shared those skills with her students, Soler and assistant teacher Margarita Kong (back left) teamed up with one of the nearby coffee shop’s managers to show off the kids’ creativity. Soler added that Starbucks customers aren’t the only ones who can now enjoy all that colorful abstract art, since each of the students painted two pieces — one for exhibition, and one for their parents to keep.
