Bob Zuckerman, executive director of the Lower East Side Business Improvement District, had plenty to be proud of as he spoke at the BID’s “Give More, Give L.E.S.” fundraising event Tuesday night. The benefit, at The DL, on Delancey St., met its goal of raising at least $10,000 for L.E.S. businesses impacted by Superstorm Sandy, via ticket sales and a silent auction.

In addition to helping local merchants, attendees also got to rub shoulders with reality TV star Jill Zarin, from “The Real Housewives of New York,” who made an appearance to support the cause.

“The event was a definite success,” Zuckerman said Wednesday, “and we look forward to having the opportunity to give back to businesses in our community that suffered as a result of Sandy.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser are being placed in a new fund for grants, which the BID is encouraging area businesses to apply for. Grant applications are currently available at  www.lowereastsideny.com/events/sandy/.
