At the square-block Westbeth Artists Housing complex, at West and Bethune Sts., artists whose works had been stored in basement studios made their best efforts to clean and salvage pieces that had been swamped by Sandy’s salt-water surge. Other assorted evidence of the destruction was also laid out to dry and be cleaned in the complex’s courtyard, like metal brackets and other detritus.
