Village writer is still in coma after injury; Witnesses sought

BY ALBERT AMATEAU  |  A man found unconscious around 11 p.m. Sat., March 24, on Christopher St. between Bleecker St. and Seventh Ave. South was still in a coma on Wed., April 4, in Bellevue Hospital.

The victim, Tim Smyth, who lives and works in the Village, sustained an inoperable brain injury according to a family friend, Anna Kasabian, of Massachusetts, who e-mailed the newspaper seeking help contacting possible witnesses. Smyth was in possession of his wallet and ID when he was found near the Boots & Saddle bar, according to Kasabian.

Smyth is a writer and manager for entertainment media based in the Village. Detective Keith Murray of the Sixth Precinct is investigating the case. The detective squad phone number is 212-741-4841.
